What happens to your screenshot.

Last updated September 3, 2026

The short version

You send us a screenshot. We keep it, and the numbers we read from it, and we use both to run and improve this service and to build a picture of what delivery actually costs. We also work out roughly where you are — your state and the first three digits of a postal code — so the prices we compare yours against come from shops you could actually walk into. Your address and name are not part of that picture and never appear on your report. If you would rather not send them at all, crop the screenshot first. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

What is in a screenshot

We read the order: the app, the restaurant, the line items, the fees, the tax, the tip and the total. That is what the report is built from.

Delivery screenshots also often show your delivery address, your name, and the last digits of a card. None of that appears on your report page. The image file itself is stored as you sent it, so treat anything visible in your screenshot as something we hold. Cropping before you send is the surest way to keep something out of our hands.

Roughly where you are

A price at a shop you cannot get to is not a comparison. Price an Austin cart against a Wisconsin supermarket and the markup you came here to find disappears into a cost-of-living gap. So when you upload a screenshot we work out an approximate location from the network connection: your US state, and the first three digits of a postal code, so 78704 becomes 787. If you text one in there is no network reading to take, so we use what the carrier tells us about the number: the state, and the city it is registered to. That is a last resort and we know it can be wrong — a number keeps its old city after a move — so anything the screenshot itself says about the store beats it.

Those three digits cover a metro or a wide slice of a state, and they are the whole of what we take: no street address, never the full postal code, no coordinates. We use it to choose which stores we go and read prices from, to throw out a stored price that came from the wrong part of the country, and to tell what delivery costs in Austin from what it costs in Milwaukee in the aggregate figures below. It does not go into the searches we run to find product pages. The one outside service that sees any of it is the browser service we use to read retailers that block ordinary fetches (H-E-B does), and what it gets is a place name and nothing else — the metro or postal area those three digits cover, or, for a text, the city the number is registered to — so it prices a store near you rather than one 120 miles away: "Austin, TX", never the digits, never a street. It never appears on your report page — where a report names a place, we read that name off the retailer's own page, not off you.

It is stored with your order and deleted when your order is.

What we do with it

Run the service. Read your order and show you the result.

Make the reader better. Screenshots we get wrong are the most useful thing we have. We use submitted screenshots, and any correction you send with the buttons on a report, as test and training data.

Build a record of delivery pricing. We keep the extracted numbers, restaurants, items, fees and timestamps, and combine them across everyone who sends us a screenshot. That aggregate is how we can eventually tell you whether a fee is normal. It is not tied to your phone number, and we may publish, share or license statistics and insights derived from it. Those are aggregates and derived figures, not your screenshot and not anything that identifies you.

We do not sell your screenshot or your phone number to anyone.

Text messaging and your mobile information

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in data, or messaging consent with anyone, for any purpose. Mobile information is shared only with the service providers that deliver the message to your phone (our messaging carrier), and they may not use it for their own marketing.

Your phone number is never sent to any AI provider. Only the screenshot itself and the figures we read from it leave our systems.

The program in plain terms: text a screenshot to 1‑888‑394‑3675 (1‑888‑394‑FORK) and we reply about that screenshot and nothing else. You start every conversation; we never text first. One short acknowledgement for each message you send, then one reply with the result for that order. No marketing, no recurring messages. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. The program in full, and the consent you give by texting, is at gotforked.com/text. Text-message support: help@gotforked.com.

Who else sees it

We send the image, and only the image, never your phone number, to a third-party AI vision provider that reads the numbers off it for us. Those providers set their own retention policies, which we do not control, so assume the image is processed outside our own systems. We change providers from time to time as better or cheaper ones appear, and we hold every one of them to the same rule: they get the picture, never your phone number.

If you texted the screenshot, it also passed through our messaging carrier. We ask them to delete their copy as soon as we have ours.

We also use ordinary infrastructure providers to host and deliver this service, and we may share data where the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or with a buyer if the business is sold.

How long we keep it

Indefinitely, unless you ask us to delete it. We are not publishing a deletion timetable, because we would rather tell you the truth than promise a schedule we do not follow. Aggregated and de-identified figures may be kept after your individual data is deleted, because they no longer describe you.

Your report link

Report links are long and random, so they cannot be guessed, and we ask search engines not to index them. Recent orders are listed on our browse page, which shows the shop, the platform and what the order came to above the food — never your screenshot, your name, your address or your number. Anyone you send a report link to can open it. Treat the link as the key.

Accounts

You do not need an account. The uploader works without one, and nothing about a report changes because the person who sent it has one. An account is for keeping your reports in one place: the ones you upload while signed in, an earlier upload you claim from the same browser, and the ones you save off the browse page or a link somebody sent you.

An account holds your email address, a name if you gave one, a password only if you set one (we keep a hash, never the password), the list of reports you claimed or saved, and your sign-in sessions — when each began, roughly which device, and a hashed form of the network address, so you can see where you are signed in and end any of them. That is the whole list. Your email never appears on a public page, is never sold or shared for marketing, and is not attached to the aggregate pricing record described above.

Sign-in links, address confirmations and password resets are the only mail we send, and only when you ask for one. They go out through Resend, a mail delivery service acting as our processor: it handles the address and the message and may not use either for its own purposes. There is nothing in the mail that tracks whether you opened it.

Deleting your account, which you can do from the account page, removes every one of those rows at once. The reports themselves are not tied to you and follow the retention above, exactly as if you had never signed in. A sign-in session ends on its own after ninety days, or after thirty days unused.

Your choices

Crop before sending. Text STOP to end all messages. Email privacy@gotforked.com to have your data deleted, or to ask what we hold about you. We honour those requests wherever you live, not only where the law requires it.

Children

This service is not for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.

Where we operate

We are based in the United States and your data is processed there. If you are somewhere with different rules, sending us a screenshot means you are content with that.

Changes

If we change how we use your data we will update the date at the top, and material changes get a notice on the home page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
